The About Stuff

Personal Stuff

I’m really not being self deprecating in giving this site this title.  I know I am not a hansom man, though several have told me otherwise.  I am getting up in years. I’m also overweight.  But according to the CDC, so are 71% of Americans.  And I am working on losing a few pounds, slowly, but surly.

I considered how much personal information to share here and seeing as this is being posted on the World Wide Web, I invite you to contact me if you really want to get to know me personally.

I will share that I grew up in northeast Ohio, near Akron.  I have lived or worked in every community of Summit County at some point or other.  I met my wife in 1976 and graduated high school in 1977. On a wonderful Oct. day in 1980, I was privileged to marry the most beautiful, intelligent and wise woman I’ve ever met.  She has saved my life, literally, several times, and I am truly grateful that she has stayed with me through all my stupidity.  She has blessed me with a daughter and son that continue to make me proud in all they accomplish.

Most of the time, I have worked in building construction, renovation, repair, and became familiar with most all the building trades.  After working various jobs, I worked for the State of Ohio at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare for 30 years.  On retirement, we moved to Las Vegas to be closer to our kids and I got a job at one of the casinos, again fixing whatever breaks.  Bad knees put me in the dispatcher position until the 2020 pandemic hit and I was laid off.  I am currently checking the “retired” box  on any forms I fill out, but seem to be keeping busy all the time.

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, my one constant hobby/interest has been photography.  Currently, I am also building a woodworking shop in the garage where I make some really excellent sawdust.  I still enjoy working on and repairing all things mechanical and structural.  And now I find myself working with computer stuff including CAD, photoshop, and recently website design and construction (this site and a few others.)

That’s about all I feel comfortable with sharing with the world, but I encourage you to contact me if you would like to know anything else about me personally.

-The Most Important Page

One of the main purposes of this site is to showcase some of my pictures. Since Jr. High school, half a century ago, my one constant hobby interest has been photography. I started out with a Kodak Instamatic 126 and developing black and white images in makeshift darkrooms and advanced to this digital age cropping and enhancing, when necessary, on the laptop.
On these pages please find just some of the many, many images I have recorded.

Another large majority of pictures came as a result of gathering information for the facebook page History of Akron & Summit County. Those posts have generated their own page. Included with the posts are an extended history of Middlebury and Hawthornden/Northcoast Behavioral Psych. Hospital.

A major life change occurred for me in 2015 when I retired from the State and we  moved to Las Vegas. The surprising results necessitated a page of their own.
